Maybe they're even hiding in books you've read a thousand times, but they're passed over for more often-quoted lines. They’re hiding everywhere from classic books, to YA, to bestsellers. These classic will always be favorites for wedding vows and Valentine's Day cards, but there are so many obscure and insanely romantic quotes that also deserve your attention. But for every famous book quote, there is a quote that you’ve yet to discover. You’ve probably doodled them in margins of notebooks, framed them and hung them on your walls, or purchased mugs with the sayings painted on the sides. You’ve heard these quotes again and again. You must allow me to tell you how ardently I admire and love you.” There’s Rhett Butler’s declaration to Scarlett O’Hara in Gone With the Wind: “You should be kissed and often, and by someone who knows how.” And who could forget Catherine’s heart-wrenching declaration about Heathcliff in Emily Brontë’s Wuthering Heights?: “Whatever our souls are made of,his and mine are the same.” Darcy’s first proposal from Jane Austen’s Pride and Prejudice: “In vain I have struggled. And I hope also that you’d be fool enough to be “in love”, and lucky enough to find true love. There are some romantic book quotes that almost everyone has heard before. The thing is, new roots have started and, if you were to lose the one you fell in love with, those roots would die and part of you would die also. It doesn’t even matter if you could have an “Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind” kind of surgery to remove all memories of the one who left you breathless, made you dream of mating every second minute of the day, and made you stay awake at night imagining that he’s kissing every cranny of your body. It doesn’t matter if you could get genius psychiatric help with your temporary madness. The kind of crew that could make it look like the eruption of Mount Vesuvius never happened and could even bring Pompeii back to its former glory. It doesn’t matter if you could put together the most amazing clean-up crew for disaster areas. But you know for a fact that your life is changed forever. You can’t tell what started the temporary madness. Sometimes you can’t tell what made the volcanoes erupt. I love the image of the two trees becoming one. After all, who’s to say that love can have only one spring? Also, I think it’s missing something: there should be a part where it talks about new blossoms. I don’t agree with it completely … of course.I’m trying to keep this post very short so I’ll say only two things about it: This is one of my favorite quotes about love. – Louis de Bernieres, Captain Corelli’s Mandolin Your mother and I had it, we had roots that grew towards each other underground, and when all the pretty blossom had fallen from our branches we found that we were one tree and not two. Love itself is what is left over when being in love has burned away, and this is both an art and a fortunate accident. That is just being “in love,” which any fool can do. No, don’t blush, I’m telling you some truths. Love is not breathlessness, it is not excitements, it is not the promulgation of promises of eternal passion, it is not the desire to mate every second minute of the day, it is not lying awake at night imagining that he is kissing every cranny of your body. You have to work out whether your roots have so entwined together that it is inconceivable that you should ever part. And when it subsides, you have to make a decision. Love is a temporary madness, it erupts like volcanoes and then subsides. I mentioned in my post yesterday that today I would share a non-depressing quote about love.
